Proportion of Awarded Companies

In the past, many good designs have come from various regions and companies, mainly in Japan. Here, we have compiled data on the number of winners by region and the proportion of winners by company size. In recent years, the awards have been given to diverse companies from a wide range of areas, including an increase in initiatives unique to local areas or small and midsize businesses, partly due to lifestyle changes caused by COVID-19 and changes in the way organizations work.

Number of awarded companies by region

GOOD DESIGN AWARD is an international design award that attracts designs submitted from 45 countries and regions around the world. In Japan, entries were submitted from all over the country, and awards were given to entities from various regions, mainly in urban areas of the Kanto and Kansai regions. In recent years, design that contributes to the sustainable development of local communities and the revitalization of the economy has attracted particular attention.

Proportion by company size

GOOD DESIGN AWARD is given to a wide variety of companies of all sizes, from large corporations to sole proprietors. About half of these companies are “small and midsize businesses.”
