Rules for the Election of the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD 2024
These rules stipulate the items required for the election of the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD 2024.
1. GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD
The GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD is the Prime Minister's Award given to the most outstanding design among all the GOOD DESIGN AWARD winners of the year. The award is elected by a vote of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD jury members (hereinafter referred to as “jury members”) and GOOD DESIGN AWARD winners (hereinafter referred to as “award winners”) of 2024. It serves as a symbol of the design and social trends of the year.
2. Candidates for the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD
Candidates for the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD will be the “GOOD DESIGN GOLD AWARD” winners selected from “GOOD DESIGN BEST100” by the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and the Screening Unit Leaders. They will be announced at the “GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2024 Press Conference” to be held on October 16.
3. Voters for the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD
Voters for the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD will be the jury members and award winners. Each award winner will have one vote per their awarded work.
The ratio of votes will be converted as follows: Award winners: Jury members = 1:20.
Jury members may not vote for candidates they have been involved in designing or consulting for.
4. Election Procedure for the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD
The GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD will be elected according to the following procedures.
4-1. Voting by the jury members and award winners
From October 16 to 17:00 (Japan Standard Time) on October 23, one person may vote for one of the candidates for the grand award from among the candidates displayed on the special website for voting. Voting is limited to one time per person during the period.
4-2. Election of the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD
The candidate with the highest number of the votes will be elected as the grand award, based on the results of the voting and the tallying of the votes according to 3. above.
If there is more than one winner with the same number of votes, the Chairperson and the Vice Chairperson will select the grand award winner from among them.
4-3. Announcement of the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD
The results of the election of the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD will be announced at the “Award Ceremony” to be held on November 5.
Information on how the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD is elected and decided will be made public on the official website.
